Privacy glass uses a film of liquid crystals sandwiched between two panes of glass. When a small amount of electricity is applied through this film and the power is on, the liquid crystal molecules align allowing incident light to pass through and the glass appears transparent.
When the electrical supply is removed and the power is switched off, theseliquid crystal molecules relax into a random orientation. This diffuses and scattersthe light that is transmitted through the glass and the Privacy Smart Glass appears opaque (private).
In the unlikely event of a problem, Smartglass International will provide a 5 year warranty against electrical failure and/or de-lamination in material and workmanship of the Smartglass panel. We may select either to replace the panels at its cost or to credit refund to the customer. Smartglass International is not responsible for the cost of removing the defective panels and installing the new panels.
Yes, of course. All of our Smart Glass products can be supplied with tempered laminated glass providing shatterproof safety.
Cleaning can be carried out in much the same way as normal glass by using a slightly damp cloth or professional glass cleaning product. Abrasive products should not be used as these may scratch the glass surface. Excess water should not be used and the Smart Glass should be in the off state when being cleaned. Any excess water should be removed before switching the Smart Glass panel on.

Yes, but drilling of holes must be done by us during the manufacturing process. Smart Glass should never be drilled or cut having completed production.
Yes, Privacy Smart Glass can be supplied in various glass tints including blue, green, bronze and grey. Solar Smart Glass is always in a blue tint and cannot currently be supplied in other colours.

No, it should be noted that there is always a haze in Privacy Smart Glass and that this can be accentuated by the viewing angle.
