In Brazil an eccentric billionaire Chiquinho Scarpa announced plans to bury his amazing Bentley – so that he could drive it in afterlife.
Where does this idea come from? The 62-year-old Scarpa said he just wanted to be buried as Egyptians with his most precious belongings.
The 62 years old Scarpa comes from a very rich family that owns everything from steel to chinaware as well as real estate holdings. Many assumed that the famous burial would include more of his precious possessions.
The campaign started on Facebook, where he posted his intentions and event date. Naturally, the whole idea brought much criticism on social media with people calling him insane. The main question was why couldn’t he have donated his car?
The country media in Sao Paulo attended the ceremony and to everyone’s surprise -just when the car was about to be buried – he stopped and said:
“I have not buried my car. Everyone thought it absurd when I said I’d do it. It is absurd to bury bodies, which can save many lives. Nothing is more valuable. Be a donor, tell your family”.
Apparently the whole ceremony was an amazing advertisement effort to help increase organ donations. The event was broadcasted and the fake ceremony became a new way of advertising that has received a prestigious Golden Lion advertising award in Cannes.
