As Christmas is coming- we have decided to write about some activities that will be available in London. We fully understand that a major group of people will stay at home, but still for many, it will be a festive time in the capital.
It is no surprise that such a huge European capital will provide some special deals and events – waiting just behind the corner!
For crafts lovers
If you would like to learn more about how to make amazing Christmas decorations, there is no better place to do so than to attend workshops in The Gallery at Craft Central from 16-23rd December 2014. Apart from learning new skills, all sales done will go to a charity that will support Craft Central’s programmes. They support new UK designer- makers.
There is even a wide selection of products available from Monotype. The leader in typeface design will have a selection of everyday products such as tea- towels with written letters on it.
Christmas Shows
If you have decided to spend time with your family and children, there is no better treat than to watch a magical show that can turn Christmas into a magical family event. Regardless whether you would like to watch ‘The Snowman’ at the Peacock Theatre or “Beauty and the Beast” at the Theatre Royal Stratford East. London is full of attractions. Several interesting shows are available at specific locations, for example “The Railway Children” at King’s Cross Theatre. There is nothing more exciting than a real train track with a beautiful 60- ton locomotive that steams into the theatre!
Active Christmas
For winter sports and ice skating lovers there is a real treat! The Natural History Museum’s ice rink is surrounded by beautiful lights and stalls selling drinks, food and gifts. An equally unique ice- skating place in London could be found at Somerset House Ice Rink. One can be provided there with the so called “Skate Extras” which include a package of champagne and truffles in Fortnum’s Lodge. The afternoon entertainment and festive treats will guarantee a great time!
Royal Christmas Time
If you have ever thought how such festivities looked like in the 17th– century, there is no better place to see and experience this than to go to Kensington Palace. Visitors there can enjoy dinner or lunch where decor and games would match those played in 1699. From seasonal music, fun and food, the whole experience will finish with the inauguration of a new King and Queen of the day. They will be decorated with a homemade crown.
Shopping experience
Big shopping centres have been beautifully decorated. However, there is no better place to feel the Christmas spirit than a Christmas market. Many are available across London, each different whether in size or offered variety of goods. However, Southbank Centre Christmas market should not be missed in this shopping exploration. This specific market is a part of the Southbank Centre’s Winter Festival, where you can also enjoy Christmas shows as well as free music and events.
