spaces that adapt to users’ needs at the flick of a switch.
Barber & Osgerby have just won a competition announced by Transport for London ( TfL). They will design the interiors, exteriors and livery for trains on the new Crossrail line, planned to be completed by 2017.
The new line will connect Reading and Heathrow with Shenfield and Abbey Wood and add 62-miles of railway links through London.
How will the new trains look like?
The official pictures are not available yet. However, some facts were already established. Each train will have nine air- conditioned cars that can fit a total of 1,500 passengers. Updated information about London transit will be displayed – this should assist in passengers planning their next journey.
This design studio, which already designed the London Olympic Torch and money saving Virgin Atlantic’s meal tray – will now take full control over aesthetic honours of London transport’s design heritage and modernize it.
