What must a Hotel offer its guests?

In our modern world some aspects of a temporary accommodation are taken for granted such as a telephone, a comfortable bed or the internet.

On the other hand, advertisements show new properties that push forward the boundaries and are exceptionally unique. It is difficult for hoteliers to follow up every new hospitality technology trend and to promptly introduce such changes within the Hotel’s environment.  That is why Smartglass decided to remind about the basic things a hotel must offer.

Safety and security

The basic measures include keeping  personal data and guests room numbers never publicly exposed. Recently some hotels decided to even categorize and implement more personal measures separately for children and elderly people – to meet their individual needs.

Bed comfort

Despite different bed design trends, every bed should have a proper size and allow for maximum comfort.  There are always long discussions regarding pillow and duvet  types.  Some Hotel  offer blankets only. The best way to guarantee a comfortable sleep is to give the quest a choice.  The wardrobe should have a multi-choice  of pillows and covers.

Bathroom

Every accommodation should have access to a well-designed bathroom. It is worth checking if the bathroom includes the  basic needs such as hot water on demand with a strong water flow and an efficient and  quiet toilet while being flushed.  An absolute must is a simple glance around a bathroom to check it’s feasible solutions, roominess,  comfortable access to all important spaces and assessment of the existence of relevant shelves for necessary accessories.

Attentive Phone Answering

The standard ‘answer the phone in three rings’ should be an absolute must. However, in some cases we would be redirected or even put on hold. As the technology improves, it should be still very important to answer people’s inquiries promptly.

Check-in/ Checkout

As technology evolves, so do hotel welcoming procedures change.  No matter how advanced the check-in is, it is crucial to apply the three old rules such as: providing clear directions as to using hotel facilities and finding guests own rooms,  convenience ( a guest should be able to solve any billing issues in no time)  and consistency ( the Hotel should be able to offer the same level of comfort every time).
