Five most challenging projects of Smartglass International

As demand for smart glass is constantly growing, Smartglass International has emerged as one of the premier supplier of electronically switchable privacy glass.

Smartglass is a specially designed smart glass product that offers end users instant privacy at the flick of a switch. Through the application of a small electrical current, users can immediately transform this smart glass product from clear to opaque and back again. This transition from clear glass to opaque and back again can be triggered from wall switches, remote controls, movement sensors, light sensors or timers.

We decided to mention our most challenging projects that we have been involved in the past.

1.      Smart Car Launch Project and  BBC Top Gear Live

Smart Glass design project for the 2007 car launch. In 2010 we were involved in project for TOP GEAR. The “disappearing car” during a spectacular driving sequence pushed  Smartglass boundaries of this application. In order to achieve the final result, each glass panel had to switch its states simultaneously. This was possible by providing wiring of smaller panels.

2.      Kempinski Hotel and Resorts, Bahrain

Smartglass was involved in providing modifications in 460 luxuriously appointed rooms and suites which epitomize the prestige and exclusivity of the Kempinski brand.  Pristine panels of Smartglass replaced a curtain system that had already been partially installed in this development. The sleek and bespoke glazing provides an innovative design solution with low maintenance costs. Specially tailored Smartglass partitions deliver the perfect balance of form and function by creating a statement en-suite that provides quests with a bright, spacious sanctuary and privacy on demand.

3.      CERN- Geneva

The tallest timber structure in the world, this sustainable globe that inspires minds with presentations and exhibitions , requires access to light and dark on demand, a considerable challenge given the volume of natural light present in the space.  Smartglass International worked with clients to design a bespoke framing system and fitted smart glass across the curved skylight and central vortex of the Globe.

4.      Rothschild Investment Bank, London

Smartglass International was triggered to deliver optimum functionality by facilitating flexibility of light, space and material. Our product reflected the interplay of public and private spaces that characterises this unique design and reflects Rothschild’s status as an iconic institution with a prized reputation for discretion.
