Project Story

Situated in the heart of the financial district in Toronto, the Birch Hill Equity office on Bay St, is a shining example of how form and function can combine to create a truly amazing space that not only portrays the brand values of the business, but also provides its employees with a clean, modern, spacious and bright working environment.

Activated by the push of a button, a flick of a switch or integrated in to the building AV system, privacy smart glass utilises electrical currents to switch transparent glass panels to opaque in less than 0.1 seconds, providing on-demand privacy while still allowing natural light to enter the room. Privacy smart glass is a dynamic, hygienic, and versatile alternative to blinds or curtains that sets any professional or commercial space apart.

For the Birch Hill Equity project we worked closely with international architecture firm HOK and a leading office interiors specialist. Smartglass helped the team to overcome a number of design challenges on the job without compromising on the overall aesthetic. The result is a series of visually beautiful yet highly functional meeting rooms and offices that add a genuine wow factor to this prestigious commercial interior.
