Privacy Smart Glass was instrumental in creating this sophisticated boardroom, which delivers an inviting meeting room area, separated from the surrounding workplace yet connected to adjacent office spaces.

Designed to meet the needs of a successful finance specialist expanding its Irish office to meet growing staff needs, the brief called for a creative use of privacy materials. The goal: to create a space that ensures optimum boardroom privacy while allowing light from outside to flow freely through internal spaces.

To achieve this objective, Smartglass International was able to realise a full height glass wall, featuring a banded switchable glass partitioning across the middle of the material.

Not only does this allow natural light to flood surrounding offices, it also creates an inviting boardroom environment. The resulting partial privacy solution is less intimidating than total opacity, more modern than blinds, and significantly more stylish than curtains.

Switchable privacy glass was the perfect tool to create this dynamic effect. Suitable for all kinds of commercial spaces, this clever solution changes from transparent to opaque at the flick of a switch.

The transition can be triggered by a wall switch, a remote control, or movement sensors, with the desired transformation taking just 0.1 seconds to complete. Furthermore, clients can also choose to match surrounding interiors with bronze, grey, green, or blue tinted glass.

For optimum privacy in a busy meeting room or office environment, Smart Glass also offers great soundproofing. Privacy Smart Glass is available in a variety of thicknesses with 9.5mm glass offering a rating of 35dB and 11.5mm glass offering 39dB.
