Smartglass International was honoured to be invited to partner with a leading partitioner in the UK on an exciting new project to provide modern glass solutions to a new facility in Bishops Gate, London. The partner, a supplier of premium glass partitioning systems for high-end offices, is known for their ability to deliver extremely detailed and challenging bespoke systems. The brief was to provide innovative partition solutions for new highly-desired office space. Part of the contractor’s design for this office space required switchable privacy glass for a number of meeting room and office applications across the working space. Smartglass was excited about the chance to work closely with this contractor to help fulfil their design desires.

Activated by the push of a button or a flick of a switch, privacy smart glass utilises electrical currents to switch transparent glass panels to opaque in less than 0.1 seconds, providing on-demand privacy while still allowing natural light to enter the room. Privacy smart glass is a dynamic, hygienic, and versatile alternative to blinds or curtains, and adds the wow factor that sets any professional or commercial space apart.

There is a wide range of switchable privacy glass variations available to meet any customer’s requirements, including colour tinted, fire rated, double glazed, curved and shaped panels. This particular project required a mitred edge, which involves cutting each of two parts of glass to be joined together to form a corner, in order to meet the brief and be integrated seamlessly into this client’s state-of-the-art door systems. The result was a fresh, sleek, and exciting addition to this modern facility, and all parties involved are extremely happy with the final results.
